5Q: DANIELLE CAMPBELL STEANS, SAN ANTONIO BALLET SCHOOL
Danielle Campbell Steans is a force to be reckoned with. A talented woman (full disclosure) joined the family when she married one of my favorite cousins. She is bright, beautiful and so talented. If I am lucky, I get a lunch date with her on her annual visits to New York. Where she dances and broadens her dance education at New York's finest dance schools.
Danielle is the Founder and Director of the San Antonio Ballet School. I was able to slide the 5Q's to her before she gave birth to her second child. She is a powerful woman with two boys, a newborn and one under the age of 3. with unstoppable vision. Just check out her Maternity Ballet Session with Brittany Brooks Photography and Film. I am gushing with pride to share her story! Enjoy!
1. Looking back on your first job, what skill did you use that you still use today?
Determination- There were a lot of obstacles that I had to go through to make my dream happen. The ballet world is a competitive field. When you are determined to succeed it's mind over matter.
2. What was the first step you took to launch your brand?
Realizing that there was a need for a ballet school with a solid foundation in pure classical training.
3. My husband is amazing! There are times I get wrapped into my work because I'm a perfectionist and he helps me find my even.
How do you juggle being a mom of a little one and building a successful and innovative brand? What are 2 tips you can share that have helped you find balance without sacrifice?
I also keep a list to stay organized and try to set realistic goals of what I can get done. Although I get joy from work, my family comes first. The best part of my day is seeing William (my son) and Drew (my husband) and I am so blessed to have the support of my family!
4. What is your method of press, i.e. social media, PR or word of mouth? What is the most successful?
I think a healthy combination of social media, newsletters, printed and promotional material. All PR and social media outlets need to work collectively for the best result. Posting events and performances both related to the studio and in the community, inspiring quotes, mailing out flyers and keeping up to date with the latest techniques and practices in the ballet world. Our goal is not just to create great dancers but great people as well!
5. What is your best piece of advice for your fellow Female Founders?
If it speaks to you and you find a need for something you are passionate about, you will have endless energy!
