HELLO 2019 / GOODBYE 2018: Learning from experiences and leaving the past behind 🍸💋
2018 was a hell of a year for me! I must say there were highs and lows - real lows. We all experience the peaks and perils of life - living under the modern microscope that is social media doesn’t always reflect the realities of every day life. I hope that my candor makes you take solace in knowing that you are not alone in your highs and lows. This said, there aren’t too many pics of the lows ( there were some) but here are some of the highs.
I learned so many lessons - and I will take the lessons with me into 2019. Letting go of the old and embracing the new is part of life and it’s not often an easy transition. Friends do not fret, it wasn’t all doom and gloom. I did have some good times!
In those moments were you are not feeling like your tip-top-self follow these steps to get you back on track. Pick one and try it!
Unplug from social media. If it’s part of your job or running your business, focus on your task and move on ASAP.
Step away from what you’re doing , inhale and exhale slowly and deeply for 5 seconds then stretch. Sounds like madness. It works.
At the end of a no good very bad day, take out a pen and pad. Journal your feelings to gain clarity, perspective and solutions. A writing exercise frees my mind.
Treat yourself. I don’t mean something extraordinary that breaks the bank - I mean go to bed early, take an extra 5 min in the shower, veg out and ignore your emails after 7pm.
Step back and look at your accomplishments - you’re probably doing fine and just need a little encouragement. Sometimes that encouragement has to comes from within.
I don’t have too many bad-day pics. This particular day started out normal and took an early nosedive. This happens often when you’re running a business. High points and low points happen 100 time a day. If you’re just starting out, just know you’re not alone.
As the story goes, I was having a beautiful morning and received an unfortunate email. That is where my state of mind fell apart. Fortunately, a friend sent a text with the most lovely discovery.
She was in London on a trip as she sat and perused through an issue of British Vogue she thumbed over a story about “Beauty Essentials for Your Gym Kit.” The piece featured none other than Lauren Napier Beauty.
I realize that everyone’s achievements and success are all different. I also recognize that accolades aren’t going to if you are not satisfied with your own hard work and achievements. Nonetheless, this brightened my spirits.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy and prosperous new year. May you learn from all of the lessons and embrace all things to come.
